Director of Public Prosecutions

Diˌrector of ˌPublic Proseˈcutions (abbrev. the DPP) noun  
in the legal system of England and Wales, the lawyer whose job it is to decide whether or not a person should be charged with a crime, in cases where it is not clear. There is a similar official in Scotland called the procurator fiscal.
